In late 2007, the OLPC laptop faced production setbacks, delaying its launch. In November, production began, with initial shipments to Uruguay and Mongolia. The 'Give One, Get One' program was introduced, allowing U.S. and Canadian consumers to buy an OLPC for $400, with half the cost covering their purchase and the other half funding a laptop for a child elsewhere. This program proved popular and was extended. However, in early 2008, Intel resigned from OLPC's board, citing pressure to stop marketing its own low-cost Windows laptop, the Classmate.
