1.98" Stainless Steel Boat Trailer Bearing Kits w/ Protective Grease Bra Fits Most 4 & 5 Bolt / Lug Hubs Grease Caps This stainless steel boat trailer bearing kit is designed for use in marine environments and resists corrosion.The bearing measures 1.980 inches at its base and is compatible with most 4 and 5 bolt hubs.It includes a grease cap that maintains slight internal pressure (about 3 psi) within the hub, helping to prevent water intrusion when submerged.This pressure is created by a spring-loaded piston that extends slightly when the hub is properly filled with grease.A black indicator ring shows when the bearing cavity is full or when additional grease is needed.The axle hub is filled with grease until the grease forces the piston outward approximately 1/8 inch.The sealed system uses this pressure differential to keep water out during submersion.An automatic pressure relief mechanism prevents over-filling and protects the inner seal from damage.Grease can be added through a central grease fitting on the piston, and lubricant level can be checked by pressing on the piston.If the piston moves slightly, the hub is adequately filled.The outer barrel and internal components are constructed of stainless steel for enhanced resistance to rust and corrosion.Before installation, inspect the bearings and seals.Replace any damaged, corroded, or pitted bearings and clean all old grease and from the hub.inner seals are intact and operate smoothly against the spindle.When reassembling, fill the hub completely with a standard multipurpose No.2 grade lubricant.Avoid using heavy, fibrous greases or mixing different grease types.
